Leverage, is the Key to Success

It is so basic that it is easily overlooked.

Individuals who achieve, make a difference, and succeed, almost always have an identifiable advantage. That advantage, which gives them thrust and force, enables an individual’s or entity’s capabilities to be a path to whatever is sought, provided that  there is leverage created by employing a fulcrum, through which the goal can be more easily achieved.

Of course, strength of some kind is also a form of leverage, especially with respect to an individual’s physical effort. However, the individual’s strength is optimized when there is a fulcrum or other element used in lifting, twisting, prying, or moving whatever it is that is challenging or blocking the intent of the entity applying the force. Therefore, the probability of achieving success is significantly increased if the necessary source of leverage can be identified and employed.

Leverage can take the form of being instrumental in fulfilling a need or want of those having the relevant power to provide access to the path which is desired by the entity seeking to apply force. This requires identifying the problems and concerns of those who have the power to facilitate the achievement of the goal. If the fulcrum happens to be the profit-seeking of those who are powerful, increasing or protecting that profit will produce benefits for both the entities having the power and those applying the leverage.

It is as simple as providing heat for the cold, or cooling for the overheated, if those using leverage are positioned to provide benefit to the endeavorer. Therefore, identifying that which is needed or wanted by those having the power to assure success of the effort provider is of paramount importance. Providing value to the right people is the key to creating value for those making the effort.

Aligning the abilities of the individual or entity with the desires and goals of those in a position to assure the success of the benefit provider is the fulcrum leading to success, in what otherwise would be a longer and more difficult journey.
