China’s population is 1.4 billion and it is a consumer of Russian resources.

Russia’s population is a shrinking 144 million and it needs a market for its resources.

China is economically strong and growing stronger, relative to Russia.

China and Russia have common enemies.

China is approximately 3,861,000 square miles, while Russia is approximately 6,601,668 square miles, making Russia 78% larger than China. However, the population of China is much larger than that of Russia.

The land border between the two countries is 2,600 miles.

The larger population China could, if it believed desirable, occupy Russia.

Economic and political affiliation can lead to issues of control and the above statements are intended to highlight relevant facts.
